Welcome to Recreation

UW Recreation is offering a wide variety of programming to choose from this summer! Select our Rec Class Pass to attend virtual fitness, mindfulness, and UWild classes such as yoga, Total Body Fitness, Zumba, Backpacking to Bikepacking, and much more! The pass is free to students, and $40 for UW employees.

We are also offering individual and team intramural challenges such as the Self-Directed Duathlon, Active Huskies 300 Minute Movement Challenge, the Virtual Cycling Relay Race, among others. And any member of the UW community can also now sign up for virtual Personal Training to work with a trainer to meet their fitness goals.

Our Waterfront Activities Center is open for kayak and canoe rentals, and you can hit a bucket of balls at our Golf Range.

Featured activities

Rec Class Pass

Weekly online fitness classes streamed live, and include Barre Burn, Cardio Kickboxing, HIIT, Total Body Fitness, and Zumba®. Weekly Mindfulness classes include Deep Stretch, Flow Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Meditation, and Triple M.

UWild will offer weekly Ask an Expert sessions, and one-off workshops include: Demisti(fly) – Basics of Fly Fishing Equipment, Intro to Trail Running, Gear Closet: What’s In Your Multi-Pitch Pack?, Transitioning from Backpacking to Bikepacking, Backcountry Coffee Do’s and Don’ts, and Hammock Rigging 101.

The Rec Class Pass is FREE for Spring and Summer students (included as part of the Student Activity Fee) and is a one-time purchase of $40 for UW Employees. The schedule begins July 6th and runs through September 3. Get your class pass here.

Intramurals

Individuals can take the 300 Minute Movement Challenge, complete the Self-Directed Duathlon, and submit your work to the “Intra Mural” Art Competition.

Team Activities include the Virtual Run/Walk Relay Race – Marathon (26.2 miles) and Half Marathon (13.1), Virtual Cycling Relay Race – 50 Mile and 100 Mile, or UW Rec’s Got Talent competition.

Personal Training

All members of the UW community may now sign up for virtual personal training sessions. Your trainer will work with you via Zoom to help you meet your fitness and training goals using your body weight and equipment you have at home.

Boat Rentals

Have a paddling adventure at the WAC! We are booking seven kayaks or canoes every 30 minutes (on the hour and half-hour) to allow for proper social distancing and the cleaning of boats and equipment.

Rentals are by reservation only and may be requested through our website or by calling. We will be open Monday – Thursday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. beginning Friday, July 3; learn more on our boat rentals webpage.

Golf Range

Get back into the swing of things! The Golf Range will be reopening on Wednesday, July 1, by reservation only. Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
