Katherine Johnson, MD

OB/GYN Physician and OB/GYN Unit Head

Background

Dr. Johnson is a Clinical Instructor in the UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She practices at the Hall Health OB/GYN Clinic. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, she earned her Medical Degree with honors from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She completed an OB/GYN Residency at the UW in 1998. She has been board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2002. She was in private practice at Swedish Medical Center until 2008 and joined the UW Faculty at Hall Health Center in 2009.

Patient care philosophy

She enjoys a diverse practice of OB/GYN and is committed to the practice of excellent health care through all stages of life from young adults through menopause. She is dedicated to educating her patients regarding their specific health concerns. She also likes to emphasize strategies to maintain wellness and practice disease prevention.

Clinical Interests

Gynecology, prenatal and postpartum Obstetric care, adolescent Gynecology healthcare, STI treatment and prevention, contraceptive counseling, long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) methods, recurrent vaginitis, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia

Personal interests

Dr. Johnson lives in Seattle and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She participates in various physical activities year-round but is especially drawn to outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. Her other interests include gardening, knitting, listening to live music, and travel.

Gynecology, Obstetrics, PCOS, contraception counseling, recurrent vaginitis, dyspareunia, IUD insertion and removal, Nexplanon insertion and removal, endometrial biopsy, evaluation of abnormal Pap smears, colposcopy, and LEEP procedures
