The Counseling Center recognizes the importance of supporting the mental health and well-being of our LGBTQIA+ students. People who belong to LGBTQIA+ communities often experience higher rates of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse because of stigma, bullying, and discrimination. Our aim is to provide a safe and affirming environment where you can discuss your concerns, explore your identities, and work through any challenges you may be facing. We also recognize and celebrate the resilience of our LGBTQIA+ students, alumni, staff, and faculty. We love working with our LGBTQIA+ students and know that seeking mental health support can be scary. We are here to help whenever you are ready but if you’re not quite there yet, this page will offer resources and information about mental health and the LGBTQIA+ community and will continue to evolve as we learn, unlearn, and you teach us more.
