Task Force on Student Mental Health

Background

In November of 2019, UW President Ana Mari Cauce and Provost Mark Richards charged the Student Mental Health Task Force to develop recommendations to: “ …delineate the components, desired outcomes, and timeline for the creation of a unified student mental-health service on campus, formed by combining the current UW Counseling Center and the Mental Health Clinic at Hall Health Center.” (Read the full charge)

The executive sponsors of this effort are David Anderson, Executive Director for UW Health Sciences Administration, and Denzil Suite, UW Vice President for Student Life. The Task Force will leverage cross-disciplinary expertise and the extensive work and research that has been compiled on this topic to date, and will be seeking additional stakeholder input and participation throughout the process.

Report: Investing in Student Mental Health

In accordance with this charge, the Task Force produced a report in February of 2020 examining mental health care at UW and options for optimizing the University’s continuum of care. Follow the link below to read the full report.
