Let’s Talk

Let’s Talk is Paused for the Summer. We’ll see you again in Fall!

The information below will give you information about how to use Let’s Talk in the upcoming Fall 2025 quarter!

What is Let’s Talk?

A red and green logo of two conversation boxes joined together. Red text in between them reads: LET'S TALK.

Let’s Talk is a program that connects UW students both virtually and in person to 1-1 support from experienced mental health counselors from the Counseling Center without an appointment. Let’s Talk offers informal consultation – it is not a substitute for regular therapy, counseling or psychiatric care.

Mental health counselors help students with insight, solutions and information about other resources. Let’s Talk drop-in visits are free, and confidential and no appointment is necessary.

If you need to speak with a mental health counselor more urgently than the times listed below, please call Husky HelpLine for support at 206.616.7777 or schedule a 1:1 session with a counselor using our student portal.

How do I participate in Let’s Talk?

How to participate

Here are the steps you need to take to participate in Virtual Let’s Talk. Please review them carefully:

  1. Decide which day and time you want to participate (see above) and set a reminder to yourself to return to this page then. You can find a time zone calculator here. Let’s Talk is not a 24/7 service and is only available during scheduled times.
  2. Find a time that works for you and click on the registration link.
  3. You will see options for times. Please select the time you would like and register.
  4. Make sure you have the technology needed – a functioning computer or smartphone, ideally with a webcam.
  5. Find a private, quiet place where you can talk with the counselor and then check your email for the Let’s Talk link during the time of your meeting.
  6. Wait for your turn to talk with a counselor. Let’s Talk is first come, first served, and the counselor will start your visit once they are done meeting with the student(s) ahead of you in line. If you are not ready when the counselor starts your visit, they will put you back in the waiting room. If there are many students waiting ahead of you, it is possible that the counselor might not be able to see you today. If you need support urgently and can’t wait until the next Let’s Talk session, contact UW’s student mental health services.
