Who I Work With: All Students

How I work with students: I aim to create a warm, empowering space that honors all parts of someone’s story and identity. I find it important to tailor my approach to meet each person’s unique needs as we collaborate on their short-term goals. I tend to take on an emotion and relationship focused approach to help students become more comfortable with their emotional experiences and develop more meaningful, authentic relationships with others. I also attend to ways culture and systemic power, privilege, and oppression shape the ways we relate to ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

My professional interests: Relational Dynamics; Suicidal Ideation and Self Harm; Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress; Queer and Trans Experiences; Anxiety; Depression

What Therapy Can Look Like:  I like to think of therapy as a creative space in which we can play around with different perspectives and tools to see what works best for each person. Some approaches that clients have found beneficial in the past include developing emotional awareness, coping strategies, study skills, self-compassion, vulnerable communication skills, thought reframing, values exploration, and referral resources. I also enjoy incorporating expressive arts (e.g., drawing, poetry, etc.) to help clients explore their concerns in an expansive, imaginative way that might not be able to be expressed through talk therapy alone.

Approach to wellness:  I believe wellness comes from being able to be authentic to themselves, while also engaging in communal care. For me, this looks like going on nature walks, creating time for play (e.g., D&D, video games, art), and spending time with my loved ones.
