What is gender affirming care?
Put simply, gender-affirming care reflects the commitment of campus health providers to respect, affirm, and support your lived experience of your gender. Gender affirming services for all students on campus may include:
- Routine preventative healthcare or primary care
- Hormone therapy
- Mental health counseling
- Psychiatric support
- Letters in support of gender affirming medical procedures or surgery
Husky Health Center (HHC) and the UW Counseling Center are two different resource points for students to get the support they need, for Gender-affirming care (GAC) and beyond. On campus providers collaborate regularly and work to stay current with standards of care.
