The starting point for your travel-related care is to make an appointment at Husky Health. Be sure to leave ample time before your departure date in order to take best advantage of these services.
New Husky Health Patients
- First, contact your insurance carrier to confirm whether your insurance covers travel-related medical care and prescriptions.
- If you have never been seen at Husky Health Center, schedule an appointment with a primary care provider. Schedule an appointment with us by calling 206-685-1011.
- Review our insurance and billing information.
Returning Husky Health Patients
- Schedule an appointment by calling 206-685-1011, or schedule online using MyChart.
- Contact your provider directly through MyChart.
Step 2: Prepare for Your Trip
Husky Health Travel Services
Once your appointment(s) are scheduled, the Husky Health Travel Medicine team will help you develop an individualized plan based on your needs and your destinations. Our travel services include:
- Pre-travel assessments 4-6 weeks before departure that include country-by-country analysis of your itinerary, anticipated activities, and review of previous immunizations to develop an individualized plan.
- Travel-related immunizations on site (including yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, and typhoid).
- Pharmacy on site for travel medications.
- Advice on malaria prophylaxis and options for anti-malaria medications.
- Information and medications to help prevent and/or treat illness and injury, such as traveler’s diarrhea and acute mountain sickness (AMS).
Resources for a Safe and Enjoyable Trip

Support While Abroad
UW students, faculty and staff who are traveling overseas can get help during a medical emergency by calling the UW Global Emergency Line at 001-206-632-0153 or by emailing travelemergency@uw.edu. Students can purchase CISI travel insurance and can contact CISI at 1-888-331-8310 (toll-free) or 1-240-330-1414 (accepts collect calls). NOTE: Husky Health services are not available remotely.
Post-Travel Services
Established Husky Health Travel Medicine patients who are experiencing acute travel-related illness or injury after a trip can call 206-685-1011 for a consultation or appointment.
